Psychology Society's: "PSYCH RAISE" @ Green County Farm

4:00 am was the assembly time for all participants. All participants came early and at exactly 6:00 am, we left the school bringing with us safety, Lasallian spirit, and God’s blessing. There are a total of four jeepneys that was used for our transportation.
A total of 90 participants joined the event, first time were almost all members of the society became a part of one event (excluding all second year members who backed-out because of some difficulty in their school projects).
5 elders joined us during the event; three faculties: Dr. Rosario Chu (Psych. Dept. Program Chair), Mr. Urbano Casamina (Psych. Dept. professor) and Ms. Nubla (CAST professor), one graduate school student and Psychology alumni.
Before the event happen, Psychology Society officers led by Ms. Maria Fe Compañero oriented everybody about what’s going to happen in the whole teambuilding and what are the dos and don’ts. Also, during this time, participants were grouped accordingly. The groups are assigned to different colors in which, after they completed the first race, they will discover their group name.
After breakfast, everyone went to their respective groups. Then the first race began called “FLAG RACE” in which all groups are expected to look and find for their group’s treasure around the pool area. The treasure contains puzzles and guide on how to form it, bandanas with colors assigned to them and blank flag cloth (with group color). The puzzle forms different shapes so it’s really tricky. After they will form the puzzle, they will go to their respective facilitator and trade it for painting materials for them to design their flags. And during the trade-ins, groups were given names.

The group names came from schools of thoughts during the history of Psychology. Names were as follow: •violet-Humanistic •black-Behaviorism •pink-Psychoanalysis •green-Purposivism •blue-Gestalt •red-Purposivism •yellow-Structuralism. During the flag race, there happened teamwork for solving the puzzle and creativity for designing their flags.
The groups also presented their jingles that show their flag’s and group name. Judged by professors

After everyone has eaten their lunch and did their preparations, the second race began called “AMAZING RACE.” The race’s mechanics are as follow; all groups have their group member being kidnapped. In order for them to save their member, they must accomplish the whole race and during this time, they will be freed from the pool area where now, they will be on their own to explore the whole place and test their strengths and stamina for running the entire farm and looking for stations. They are given map in order for them to be guided and not be lost. All groups are given questions (clues) for them to know which station they must surpass. On the map, the red fonts are different people in Psychology and so, clues are related to them. Groups will experience random stations so there is no specific first station or second station and etc. for all.
JUNG’s station. (Facilitator: Michael Meladona) Michael lost some of his stuff. The group must find these stuff that was hidden somewhere in the whole place of Air soft. Some stuff are stuck under car wheels, grass and etc. They are given clues for them to know what thing they must find.
WUNDT’s station. (Facilitator: Leah Dangla) One group member will be blindfolded and he/she will form the puzzle (the PSYSOC logo). Other group members will help him/her in solving the big puzzle.
MILGRAM’s station. (Facilitator: Tracy Louise Diaz) All groups will be lined with their arms connected with each other fists closed. They will pass a coin through their fist.
FREUD’s station: (Facilitator: Maria Fe Compañero) the group will try all the rides inside the playground area.
SKINNER’s station: (Facilitator: Jamila Mari Ergino) the group will all stand on a plank. Then one by one, they will cross the small bridge (plank) while passing on one another until they crossed the other side. When one falls, they will repeat the cycle.
PAVLOV’s station: (Facilitator: Mark Steven Hallig) the group will cross the area by jumping on wheels, passing inside the wheels’ hole and climbing over the fence.
SOCRATES’ station: (Facilitator: Regine Orbillo) group must find 12 mongo seeds under the pale with filthy materials in it like dirty water, mud, decomposing materials and many more.
BANDURA’s station: (Facilitator: Jan Carlo Palugod and Mary Jane Espedido) group must accomplish all obstacles including crossing on the other side of wire through a rope like Tarzan, human train around the poles, bridging on top of the wire with the support of a rope, crawling under wires, and passing through a webbed rope.

HUMANISTIC GROUP
FUNCTIONALISM GROUP
PSYCHOANALYSIS GROUP
BEHAVIORISM GROUP
PURPOSIVISM GROUP
STRUCTURALISM - WINNER of the whole PSYCH RAISE

After the group will finish the whole amazing race, they will be given a final clue. This clue is somehow tricky because they don’t have any idea of what to do with the clue. The clue’s answer is to find the president, Denn Levy Velasco, and borrow a scissor to cut the rope that ties their kidnapped member. The most difficult part is that Denn Levy is roaming around the farm so it’s really hard to find him. Fortunately, after three hours of struggles and journey, Structuralism and Purposivism group got the scissors and won the amazing race. After tallying the scores (scoring committee) Structuralism won the PSYCH RAISE. They were given awards of appreciation.
Everyone is awarded certificate of participation and a button pin as a token of appreciation.

"First Day Hi!" official poster © Denn Levy Velasco
Psychology Society's first event for this year was named "First Day Hi!" The event aims to gather AB Psychology students especially the freshmen. It's an annual orientation/acquaintance party for psychology students. This event has goals of building strong relationship among members of the society and the department as well and foster new talents and skills. This event was hosted by the Psychology Society in tie-up with the Psychology Department of De La Salle Araneta University.

The "First Day Hi!" registration started at an early time before the event began. Majority of the registered participants are freshman. The registration team was led by Ms. Jamila Mari Ergino with Ms. Leah Dangla and Ms. Regine Orbillo.

The program immediately started at exactly 9:00 am through a prayer led by Ms. Mary Jane Espedido.

After the prayer, Denn Levy (Psychology Society President) gave his opening remarks welcoming all Psychology Society members especially the new members and thanking everyone for having their time. And during this time, he introduced to everyone the new set of officers for the Academic Year 2012-2013. Starting from Vice President up to the year representatives.

The program's hosts were Ms. Aj Stefani Esclamado and Ms. Maria Fe Compañero. Participants were asked to stand up and greet "Hi!" and "Hello!" to their nearest schoolmate. It was fun seeing everyone smiling and greeting each other. Through this Psychology Society's membere were able to meet each other and became familiar with.

Dr. Rosario Chu, after everyone greeted each other gave her speech and talk regarding the field of PSYCHOLOGY. She also oriented the students regarding career opportunities after finishing the course AB Psychology. Also. she introduced the lists of professors in the Department of Psychology.

After Dr. Rosario Chu's presentation, M.C.s were given a chance to present to everyone what are the upcoming events and activities for the school year for the Society. These are the lists of upcoming events:

After some performances, Psychology Society played some videos about the society, and its members. And also a music video by Mr. Denn Levy Velasco, Ms. Maria Fe Compañero, Ms. Leah Dangla and Ms. Jean Lumbres directed by Mr. Denn Levy Velasco was played entitled Countdown by Beyonce. Click this link to watch the video through youtube.

The first game started with a name called "Meet Me." Psych people were asked to complete the human bingo whoever can accomplish the bingo shall take the prize which was a Psychology Society T-Shirt. Mr. Mark Pangan won the shirt. Congrats! Another 1st year member also won a shirt. (Sorry if we weren't able to get the name)

The second game was called "Lucky Pick." Members of the society were asked to grab something under their chairs (because officers stick some papers under the chairs - a total of 10 colored papers for 10 chosen members). Each group has 5 members depends on what color of paper they got under their chairs. And those groups were asked to have a showdown (dance showdown). And congratulations to the people on the picture who won the Psychology Society keychains! :)

Fourth year members also had their performances. Mr. Peter Paul Callado sang with Mr. Nathaniel Melendrez and on the other hand, Ms. Jeline Baliwas and Ms. Clein Villanueva also sang.

Ms. Leah Dangla (Vice President Internal) finally gave her closing remarks. Thanking everyone and inspiring all psychology society members to keep on striving hard and giving her message to all first year not to feel pressured especially this is their first step in college.

Ms. Regine Orbillo (4th year representative) led the closing prayer.

These are photos of the participants. See you all again to our next event this August, the TB! :)
